2/26/2013 0 Comments Happy Birthday!February seems to be the month of birthdays, or maybe because it's also my birthday that i notice it more when there are birthdays around the same time. On my birthday, I was working on a Hello Kitty cake for one of my 3 year old clients :) Pink and awesome Hello Kitty Cake. It was my first time trying out a frozen buttercream transfer. It's actually pretty amazing! here is the before and after: can you believe it? now i know i can do whatever character i want! i need to remember two things: don't work with buttercream straight out of the fridge, i might get carpal tunnel! and Depending on the design, i wouldn't need to do the extra outline. It would keep the transfer thinner, and look better. The lettering didn't have the outline, it was straight turned over onto the cake. I really like that way of doing lettering! like i said, it was a weekend of birthdays... i had so much pink frosting left over, i made another cake - it was an experiment cake - chocolate cake with orange liqueur and cardamom... it was actually quite good, and one of my friends said it was her favorite cake so far! I was very excited to hear it! one thing about experimenting with cakes is that you can't just make half a cake to try things out - thank goodness for very willing guinea pigs!
